- Who Created Bitcoin
No one knows. Actually, someone knows but the wizard has yet to come out from behind the curtain. The digital currency appeared seemingly overnight out of the hands of someone named Satoshi Nakamoto. The Bitcoin whitepaper, titled “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System,” was published by Satoshi Nakamoto in October 2008. The Bitcoin network was then launched in January 2009 with the release of the open-source Bitcoin software. Since then, Bitcoin has grown into the most well-known cryptocurrency, sparking the development of numerous other cryptocurrencies and blockchain projects. No one knows whether Satoshi Nakamoto is a person, a group of people, or an organization. What we do know, however, is that Satoshi holds roughly 1 million bitcoins. As a aside note, it was interesting to see former Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey, wearing a Satoshi T-Shirt at the 2024 Superbowl.
